How many longevity clinics are there in the U.S.?

Our best estimate is about 1,300, likely between 900 and 1,800. Here is what counts as a longevity clinic, why there are more each year, and how we worked out the number.

6 minute read

Quick answer: about 1,300, and most likely somewhere between 900 and 1,800. That counts places with a doctor or medical oversight that offer longevity-focused testing or care, including concierge practices, functional medicine clinics, scan centers and fitness-testing studios. Nobody keeps an official count, so this is an estimate, and the number is growing every year. Below: what counts as a longevity clinic, why there are more each year, and how we worked out the number.

What counts as a longevity clinic?

“Longevity clinic” is a broad term. Plenty of places that do longevity work never put the word in their name. Think of it like counting coffee shops: does a bakery that makes great espresso count? For longevity care, we count any place with medical oversight whose main focus is helping you stay healthy longer. That includes:

  • Longevity and health-optimization clinics. The ones that use the name, often with a full assessment and a membership.
  • Concierge and direct primary care doctors. Your everyday doctor, with longer visits and longevity testing built in.
  • Functional and integrative medicine practices. A whole-body approach to nutrition, hormones, gut health and prevention.
  • Hormone, weight and metabolic clinics. Focused on hormone therapy, weight management and metabolic health.
  • Scan and imaging centers. Whole-body MRI, heart calcium scans and similar screening.
  • Testing studios. DEXA body composition, VO2 max and metabolic testing, usually with a clinician reviewing results.
  • Hospital programs. A growing number of major medical centers now run longevity or healthy-aging clinics of their own.

What we don’t count: IV drip bars, med spas focused on aesthetics, gyms and supplement shops without real medical oversight.

How is a longevity clinic different from a regular doctor?

In short, it’s an add-on, not a replacement. Your regular doctor handles checkups, proven screenings, sick visits and referrals, mostly covered by insurance. A longevity clinic lets you get extra tests earlier, spend more time on prevention, and learn more about your health than a standard checkup covers. Most people who use one keep their regular doctor too.

The number is growing every year

Longevity clinics are opening fast, in more and more cities. A few reasons:

  • More people care about staying healthy longer. The COVID-19 pandemic made many people think harder about their own health, and got them used to telehealth and at-home testing.
  • More money is going into the field. Investment in longevity companies more than doubled in one year, from about $3.8 billion in 2023 to about $8.5 billion in 2024.
  • The technology keeps getting better and cheaper. Advances in research, biotech and medical imaging, helped along by AI that can read scans and analyze blood work faster, are making tests like whole-body scans more affordable.
  • Mainstream medicine is joining in. Concierge and direct primary care practices grew more than 80% between 2018 and 2023, and major hospitals now run longevity clinics of their own.

You can see it happening city by city. Neko Health, a body-scan company from Europe, opened its first U.S. clinic in New York in September 2026 with more than 25,000 people on its waitlist, and plans locations in Miami, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco over the next year. Whole-body MRI companies, longevity membership brands and hospital programs are expanding the same way.

One brand can have several locations

Some longevity companies run many clinics under one name. Prenuvo, for example, lists 24 U.S. locations, and Cenegenics lists about 20 U.S. centers. When we count clinics, each location counts, because each one is a real place you can visit.

That matters when you’re choosing, too. Two locations of the same brand can have different doctors, services and opening hours. Always check the specific location near you, not just the brand.

How we worked out the number

For anyone curious about the math: there’s no government list of longevity clinics, so we started with what we can measure and scaled it up.

Step 1: Count carefully where we can. We’ve researched clinics city by city in major U.S. metro areas. In the places we’ve covered most thoroughly, like Miami, Boston and San Diego, we found about 5 to 7 longevity clinics for every million people.

Step 2: Adjust for the rest of the country. Those are big, wealthy metros where longevity care is popular. Smaller cities have fewer clinics per person, so for the country as a whole we use a lower range: 3 to 6 clinics per million people.

Step 3: Multiply. About 294 million Americans live in metro areas. At 3 to 6 clinics per million, that’s roughly 900 to 1,800 clinics, with a middle estimate of about 1,300.

In practice, that means a large metro area usually has 20 to 60 or more longevity clinics, a mid-size city has a handful, and many small towns have none.

Does that line up with other numbers? Yes:

  • A 2025 industry white paper estimated about 800 U.S. longevity clinics, counting only places that clearly brand themselves that way. Our number is higher because we also count clinics that offer longevity care without using the word.
  • There were about 3,000 concierge and direct primary care practices in the U.S. in 2023. Many offer longevity-style testing, but not all, so the full number is a ceiling, not a count.
  • Big scan and testing brands alone run well over 100 locations nationwide.

Common questions

How many longevity clinics are in the United States?

About 1,300 by our estimate, likely between 900 and 1,800. There’s no official count, because “longevity clinic” isn’t a licensed category.

Why isn’t there an exact number?

Longevity clinics are licensed as regular medical practices, and many don’t use the word “longevity” in their name. Whether a concierge doctor or a DEXA studio counts depends on how you define it.

How many longevity clinics are in a typical city?

A large metro area usually has 20 to 60 or more. A mid-size city might have a handful. Many small towns have none.

Is the number growing?

Yes, every year. Interest in staying healthy longer, more investment, and cheaper testing technology are all driving it. New clinics and new locations of national brands open in more cities every year.
